“We loved the stay because of the peaceful secluded spot. Communication and meals could be improved.”

The location is exceptional, a beautiful beach near Corcovado surrounded by nature. The coastal trail runs south and north, a 25‑minute walk over the beach and through the jungle to Playa San Josecito where the water is calmer for swimming (the hotel beach has very high waves). Lots of animals visit the hotel area—monkeys, parrots, tapirs, and more. It’s a quiet, peaceful place and everyone on the staff was very friendly. Free drinking water, tea, and coffee are available all day. There was a problem at arrival: the booked superior room wasn’t available. After a discussion, Samuel was helpful and arranged an alternative, so the stay was still nice. It was hard to contact them weeks before, with no replies via the website, so we missed the Sirena station tour. We did see many animals in the hotel area and did a bit of coastal trail hiking. It felt like the booking was at the end of the line. Meal prices are high for what you get, but that was known from other reviews. Arrival and departure were an adventure with huge waves, but everything worked out. The beach is beautiful, but there’s a lot of plastic; tourists try to clean it, yet the collected bottles aren’t removed for recycling or a clean beach, and we didn’t feel local people cared, which is a shame because it’s their capital.

The conditions weren’t ideal for San Josecito, and the main beach has big surf, but we enjoyed the trail up to Quillotro; the room was large and airy with a nice deck, everything worked well and the staff were friendly.
