The pool was a highlight; though small, it reached 5 feet deep at one end, which is a nice change from the shallow pools at many hotels. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient, and the location was close to the North Alabama State Fairgrounds, allowing me to enjoy a pleasant hour‑and‑a‑half walk around the grounds and sports field in the morning without traffic. The bed and pillows were excellent, just as all Comfort Inns are known for. However, I found mold or mildew under the soap dish—likely missed by cleaners—, the light above the toilet was out and when I tried to turn it, part of the bulb popped out, indicating it was degraded. A dirty dry washcloth hung over the shower curtain rod had also been overlooked. The TV was not a smart TV and kept showing a message that the internet connection was lost; I couldn’t cast from my phone and the menu wouldn’t clear quickly, blocking the picture for a few minutes whenever I used the remote, perhaps due to user error. I had to plug the TV into a different outlet because the original one didn’t work. I’m sure the hotel would have addressed all these issues if I had reported them, but I just wanted to swim, sleep, and watch a movie. The bed and pillows were great, just like all Comfort Inns are.

I’m not far from Florence, and the place was clean and quiet, though I shared the room with a girls’ softball team that were a bit rowdy but not too bad.

The bed was comfortable and easy to find, but the breakfast was not worth eating – they might as well do away with it, it’s not very good. Disabled parking was so far from the entrance, and the front desk was almost empty most of the week.
