Breakfast was magnificent, tasty, and varied, a great start to the day; Elvira and Lida were warm and pleasant women who did everything to make us comfortable; the hostel’s location is excellent, especially for heading into the mountains; many foreigners were there, and it was fun chatting with them in the kitchen; I’ll definitely return to Almaty!

The breakfast was well‑situated and the host, Elvira, made it pleasant, but the bed felt a bit worn out.

Everything in the hostel was great—cheap, tidy, with hearty breakfasts and nice furniture. The kitchen had all the essentials, dishes, a fridge, and comfy tables. The leather furniture was superb, and there was a Venus of Milo on display. The internet was weak and the room was chilly.

The private courtyard, breakfast, and indoor relaxation areas were good, but I spotted a cockroach in the spoon drawer on the kitchen counter. The bathroom needs more frequent cleaning, and the kitchen has a time limit for cooking and eating, even though it’s rarely crowded and there’s enough space. There’s no shoe rack or towel hooks at the entrance, and the room itself has no place to hang clothes. The bedding needs updating—pillow packs are lumpy and the blankets are worn.
