The location was excellent and very quiet, which is a great bonus. We discussed options for privacy blinds/curtains in a couple of areas.

The host is a genuinely kind and generous guy who goes out of his way to help; the view from the hilltop is stunning and the surrounding nature is lovely, and the fridge is well stocked. The downside is that the hilltop location means every walk is uphill, which can be tiring.

“There are better options”

The natural setting is pristine, and I woke each morning to birdsong; the host is friendly and responsive and clearly trying his best. However, the property only has two rooms and I stayed in the “Queen Studio,” Room #1, which lacks the balcony view shown in photos and faces a car park and the host’s house just 5 m away, offering zero privacy—curtains are open, noises from the house bleed through, and light seeps in at night despite the host’s attempts to block it. The mattress felt like it was wrapped in thick plastic, trapping moisture, and the AC cut out twice at night, probably due to power outages, causing the room to heat up and me to wake up drenched. The guest house has no soundproofing and thin walls, so when two rooms are occupied you hear each other’s conversations; I was lucky to have quiet neighbors. The host chose carpets that are unsuitable for the property—finding a centipede or other critters in the long‑pile carpet is a challenge. The property is in a pristine natural area, so bugs are expected. Although the map shows it near Marigot Bay, it’s actually at the end of an unpaved downhill road, making it intimidating to reach any restaurant, and returning is even harder because the road is uphill.

We had a genuinely pleasant stay; the host welcomed us warmly and took time to show us everything, making settling in easy and comfortable. We also appreciated the little touches, like having refreshments waiting in the fridge. The apartment itself is well equipped with modern technology and a lovely balcony where we could relax and enjoy the surroundings. Being so close to nature made the whole experience even better. Overall, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, and we would gladly return. The only small thing to note is the presence of some insects, which is completely understandable given the natural surroundings and not the host’s fault; having mosquito protection such as repellents might be helpful.

The welcome dinner with wine prepared by the host’s mother was delightful, and the table setting was very nice. Sunset views from the room and the terrace over the sea and mountains were beautiful. The host was helpful, and the terrace with a hammock and lounge chairs was great. The bathroom was very large and had Netflix. The only drawbacks were the overly soft bed and the lack of a classic shower, only a rainfall shower was available.
