The hotel has a resort‑like vibe, but it’s perched on a steep hill so you need a tuk‑tuk from the bottom, and it’s far from Kandy’s bustle, which might be good for some but not for those wanting proximity. I liked the remote, peaceful setting, the balcony, the gorgeous bathroom, the comfy bed, and it felt luxurious; the owners were nice.

The stay was wonderfully relaxing among trees, yet close enough to the city centre for convenience, making you feel like you’re in a forest. It’s perfect for self‑catering and longer stays, feeling like a home away from home. I just wish I had a few more days.

The location is great—only 5 minutes from town—up a steep hill that gives a remote, private feel, which I wanted. The architecture is interesting, built by a British lady years ago, and the place is surrounded by nature. The rooms are spacious and breezy, and I had a private balcony overlooking the river. They offered a lovely toastie menu, and as a UK visitor I appreciated the sausage and bacon option for breakfast—a taste of home in Sri Lanka. The music system lets you connect your phone and enjoy music and wine. All in all, a great experience.
