If you’re after a genuine Medellín feel, this hostel hits the mark. It sits in a quiet neighborhood yet you’re only a short ride from downtown, and the locals are super friendly – I felt safe both day and night. Tomas has built something special, weaving the barrio into the activities they offer, which makes the whole stay feel more like a community than a typical hostel. Give it a shot; you’ll thank me later.

The owners and staff were genuinely warm and attentive, which made the stay pleasant, but the menu left a lot to be desired – it was limited to fast‑food‑style dishes and didn’t offer much variety.

The common area is decent, with plenty of sockets, hot water, and a quiet atmosphere, yet the room itself was a let‑down: no Wi‑Fi, a bunk that was so cramped you couldn’t even sit, and a check‑out time of 11 am that was pushed on you starting at 10 am, while check‑in didn’t begin until 3 pm, effectively shaving two hours off a normal stay. On top of that, the hostel sits in a fairly remote part of town that felt a bit unsafe.

From the moment we walked in, the family‑style welcome from Thomas and his team threw us right into the experience; the family room was perfect for a quiet night’s sleep, and everything else – the facilities, breakfasts, dinners, and especially the cocktails – was spot on. The location is ideal for exploring Medellín, and Thomas is happy to share taxi numbers and guide contacts. Only downside: after those endless, amazing parties, waking up the next morning was a struggle.
