“Lovely place. Poor attitude”
It's a very nice property and a quiet and comfortable place to stay. I found that the customer service left a lot to be desired. Firstly as I checked in I was asked when I wanted breakfast. Serving time was stated as between 9 and 10 so I said 9. I paid an extra 12 pounds for English breakfast. When I went down for breakfast at just after 9 I got some fruit from the buffet, which was part of the original includes continental breakfast. However before I had even started to eat it I was served with English breakfast which proceeded to get cold while I ate the fruit. The fried egg was hard and congealed. I got up to go to the bathroom before I had finished the food, and returned to find the table cleared. I then poured myself a coffee and went outside to drink it. At around 9.55 I returned the cup to the dining room and the owner (I think) told me in a very brisk manner that checkout time was 10 am. I objected at this point pointing out that it would have been better if she had come and asked me if I was ready for my expensive extra breakfast before serving it and that I was on my way up to pack and leave. I was then told I was being rude when my intention was to provide counstructive feedback. In my view the focus of the management is for their own convenience rather than that if their guests and a more relaxed attitude would go a long way to making this a more pleasant place to stay. From the hostile signs in the car park threatening 100 pound fines to the multiple signs about muddy boots it seems they have no trust in their guests to behave normally
