“Expensive town, basic room”

The spot was spot on and the bed was comfy, but the room felt tired and getting in was a hassle because you had to go through the pub. The staff told me checkout was at 10, even though the website listed 11.

“Disappointing.”

The shower was great with plenty of hot water, and the room had a kettle, fridge, iron and ironing board. The staff were polite. However, the room looked dingy and clearly needs an upgrade; the cleaning missed several cobwebs with dead insects, and the secondary double glazing was hard to open and in bad shape. It was hot, there were no pillow protectors, no daily cleaning, no tea or coffee refills, and the bin wasn’t emptied. Staff gave conflicting reasons for the lack of cleaning, saying “we should have asked!” There was no information booklet. Breakfast was poor, so we went out after the first morning. The place is very noisy, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. We left a day early instead of staying until the end.

The location was central. At night the noise was a nuisance and the room was too hot.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was great in the town centre. The pub food was decent. The shower wasn’t a walk‑in and the stairs were very steep.

“Nice place, good location but poor staff”

The location was great and the rooms were nice. The bar closed at 9.45 pm with the excuse of “winter hours”; don’t book if you want to have a drink.
