“草津温泉好きには有り難いお宿”

The distance from the hot spring was just right and it was quiet; the quietness made us hear the neighbor’s snoring, which was oddly soothing and gave us a cozy feeling. A favorite nearby shop with deep flavors was close by. The cleaning was thorough and reassuring, and the price is reasonable for these days. The only downside is that there is only one bath, so you have to be careful. Because the spring is a running source, users adjust the temperature with cold water, so depending on the timing it can become lukewarm.

“満足！”

We could spend a quiet time there. The mirror in the room was too high, so short people couldn’t see their whole face; there was a single 30 cm square mirror or a B‑type mirror, so about six mirrors of the same size would have been better. If I could ask for a full‑length mirror, that would be even better. There was no contrast on the wall where the mirror was, so maybe a mirror on a contrasting wall would work.

The room was clean, and after a walk I returned past 23:00, but the front door was opened and I was waited for, which was appreciated; the meals, toilet, and bath were communal, but there were utensils, tea, coffee, café‑au‑lait, and cold water available, which was good; the bath could be reserved for a private soak; the owner couple were very friendly and made the stay enjoyable. The stairs to the second floor were a bit steep, so I would have preferred staying on the first floor; being inside a house made it confusing; the slope in the middle was quite steep, so descending was fine but ascending was hard, so I found it easier to take the municipal bus A‑circuit to Terme Terme, get off, and walk across; if I had requested a pickup, they said they would come, so I will do that next time; driving might have been better, but from the bus terminal it was far.

It’s less than 10 minutes from Yunbetsu, so walking was just right; the room was much larger than a typical hotel, and we stayed four people and it was spacious enough. Nearby there are no convenience stores, so it’s recommended to buy supplies around Yunbetsu.
