The charm and character were appealing, but because it’s an old hotel and the weekend was warm, we kept the windows open and it was noisy; no air conditioning, which didn’t bother us, just the noise.

“Delightful location”

The spot is right across from Golden Gate Park, perfect for the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival and other events, and the staff are very friendly, giving it that boutique vibe. The only downside was the lack of climate control on warmer days; I had to ask for a fan because there wasn’t even a ceiling fan to break the stuffiness in San Francisco’s mild weather.

I stayed close to Golden Gate Park and UCSF Parnassus Hospital, with convenient and affordable parking right across the street at Kazar for $38 a day. Haight Street offers plenty of restaurants and it’s quiet at night. The old Victorian style mixed with modern comforts was a treat, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and featured a deep soaking tub. I loved the old photos in the halls that depict SF’s rebuild after the great quake and fires. Afternoon cookies and a wine happy hour added to the experience. The hotel is great and I’ll return. Breakfast was just okay—a typical continental spread. The pastries were good and individually wrapped, which I appreciated. The eggs were standard hotel fare and the bacon was thin and greasy. There was yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, apples, and bananas. I wish the windows had screens; I slept with them open to cool the room and got bitten by a mosquito seven times. It detracts from the Victorian aesthetic, and screens would help with the lack of AC.

“Great service, nice building, great staff, the breakfast was included and good”

The location was great for walking around, but the room, while nice, was small.

“Um dos melhores hotéis que já ficamos em San Francisco.”

The hotel is excellent, a real delight with spacious, clean rooms and a pleasant atmosphere, especially the wine tasting at 5 pm that made my days memorable. The breakfast is also very good. The neighborhood is fantastic, full of shops and restaurants, and public transport is convenient, so we could easily hop on a bus for many activities. It’s economical and practical, and getting to Golden Gate and Sausalito is easy. Nothing to complain about—everything was amazing.
