“The Pleasant” Exceeds the Expectations It’s Modest Name Engenders”

We spent a week at this all‑season Victorian BnB in a town with three centuries of European history, and it turned out to be a highlight of our three‑week road trip through Ontario and Quebec; friends in the town had recommended The Pleasant, and from check‑in to check‑out everything—beautiful decor, an indoor or outdoor cafe, a lovely garden, a comfortable bed, local bath products, and caring hosts—went beyond “pleasant”; our spacious bedroom was beautifully appointed with a large bed and bedding, and its decor and bathroom were updated to reflect its Victorian heritage while still being modern; the main street was just steps away, reachable by walking through a charming park (the cannons were unloaded, I’ve been told) to the town’s main street, where we found a fantastic bakery and cafe, restaurants, bars, some with live music, all within walking distance for a longer stay; the town is surrounded by trees, flourishing gardens, and mountains in the background; after enjoying time with friends, we said goodbye to our affable BnB host/barista who greeted us by name (we’d never met before) and handled a quick check‑out; we loved chatting with the young woman who checked us in the day before, and our new host made us regret leaving; The Pleasant had so much more to offer than our short stay allowed us to experience—gardens, an espresso café and bar, a wrap‑around porch—this place truly exceeds its promise; we can’t recommend it enough for those looking for modest, elegant comfort and much‑needed tranquility, and its beauty plus proximity to town make it worth planning a longer stay; we’ll definitely return to this town and The Pleasant! Oh gosh, there’s nothing to complain about! (Unless those old cannons are really loaded. 😉)

The staff were courteous and helpful with our requests, they told us where to eat and what to do nearby, and we really appreciated that.

“A beautiful place to stay in a beautiful location we are most definitely coming back!”

The place is gorgeous and right in the middle of everything. After a busy day, it’s a sweet spot to unwind.
