“God damm awful”

Nothing good to say. The whole place smelled like weed and smoke, the room reeked of feces and was filthy. It sat at the back of an industrial estate and looked like it had “permanent residents” judging by the clothes hanging on the windows. The restaurant and bar had been shut for three weeks and there was no nearby place to eat. We told the hotel we were moving to another one right away, and they only reached out the next day to offer a full refund. The photos on the site are a lie; this hotel should not be listed.

Bed was comfortable. We were given a standard room when we had booked and paid for a deluxe room with a river view, had to complain to get the room we had paid for and still didn't have a river view. We had planned to have an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel which was advertised as available, on arriving we were told restaurant was closed during our stay. The room was freezing with no heating to turn on and my partner suffers from chrones which is even worse when cold, so even though we booked 2 nights we had to check out after 1 night to protect my partners health. On checking out, I requested a phone call or contact from a manager to explain the problems we had suffered during our stay, no contact was received, I have since called the hotel on 3 occasions asking to speak to a manager about this, told they were unavailable each time and that they would get back to me, again no contact received, very poor and unexceptable customer service as well as the poor service during the stay

“Never again!”

At first glance it seemed fine; it’s on the river, so the location is stunning. But it wasn’t clean. The moment I walked in there was a strong disinfectant odor, which explains why. A dirty sock was covering the smoke alarm, the shower was broken (only works for a 3‑foot tall person), and the shower head wouldn’t stay up. A smell came from the bathroom, probably the sink drainage. The windows were grimy and cigarette ash lay on the sill. Their website still says breakfast is available, yet when I arrived the restaurant was closed. No breakfast at all, not even pastries.

“Some changes since our first stay so do check if you a returning customer. An OK stay.”

The gentleman on reception was very helpful indeed. Warm and friendly. He is an asset to the hotel. The river views are gorgous and, overall, bathroom issue aside, the cleanliness and comfort of the room for the price were good. Good communication pre-booking. Location is great if you want to be a little bit out of the centre and if you have a dog. It's a short drive into the city. So, we stayed exactly a year ago and booked with the same details on the listing this time, and breakfast was included. We had a great stay, hence the return booking. There was no breakfast this time, and the restaurant no longer opens in the morning. In fairness to The Riveralnds, our booking did not state that breakfast was included, and this was my assumption, so it's just to let those who may have visited before know that this is a change. I can't and don't hold The Riverlands responsible for that. If you are taking a dog, even if this is specified on your booking search, be aware that they are welcome, but you will be charged extra when you arrive to check in. We had been advised via the chat ahead of arrival but I suspect only because I'd opened a chat ahead of arrival. Again, just for advice. The reason for the poor rating for cleanliness and the bathroom - a used female sanitary product in the bin and blood down the side of the bin. Ew. Health issue, not just cleanliness. I had to stress that as I'm in a chemically induced menopause due to a hormone receptive cancer, it was certainly not mine!
