The character of the property
“Persoal observations.”
We enjoyed everything and would return, but the Black Swan was closed when we arrived and we couldn't find a place to buy chocolate or drinks in the evening; a small fridge in the room would have been handy.
“A wonderful birthday stay”
We stayed in the Maidens Tower with a view of the moat and found every amenity we could need: ironing facilities, a safe, a hairdryer, excellent Noble Isle toiletries, a radio with a USB‑A port for charging, a huge bath, a toilet with a view, a fan, bath robes, slippers, tea and coffee with biscuits, and a lovely birthday message from the staff; the only downside was the walk back to the car.
Sleeping in a castle is always a dream! That was exactly what happened. We ate at the restaurant, which is also very good, and Diana welcomed us warmly (we could speak French with her). Thanks to our hotel night, we were able to visit the castle and the large park for free. The only downside was that the castle’s reception was handled via an intercom we hadn’t seen. Luckily, a staff member who was leaving the castle grounds helped us a lot, because the reception person didn’t speak French at all and we couldn’t understand each other.

Everything about our stay was flawless—from the warm, friendly welcome to the beautiful restaurant that served both breakfast and dinner; nothing could be improved, making this truly a magnificent hotel.
