We were really surprised that in a place this big, so close to the airport, there was no one who spoke French; as soon as we asked for directions, they handed us a phone to use a translator app… elsewhere in Porto, we had no trouble communicating.

The place was clean and comfortable, and the shuttle to the airport was quick, but there was no kettle, no tea or coffee, no paper tissues, and one shower towel was missing even though I had booked for two people.

I took the train to the airport and walked 15 minutes to the hotel; it’s well‑located near the airport, but the room had no air conditioning.
