The School House in Ballater was an absolute gem in Royal Deeside, and I can’t recommend it enough. I stayed there on 3rd September and it delivered everything we wanted and more. The cottage was beautifully presented—spotlessly clean, wonderfully cosy, yet light and spacious—combining original character with modern comfort. The beds were super comfortable, the shower was great, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the thoughtful touches made a big difference. The location is unbeatable: right in Ballater, so you can walk to shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, yet it’s still peaceful and quiet. It’s the perfect base for exploring the Cairngorms, Balmoral, Braemar and the A93. Cathy was fantastic—excellent communication, easy check‑in, and she made us feel so welcome. We left feeling completely refreshed and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a stay in Deeside, look no further—5 stars without hesitation! Thank you!

The spot was perfect for reaching Ballater and Royal Deeside, and Cathy was a genuinely warm and welcoming host who handled every request with ease. The beds were comfortable, the room was cosy and stocked with everything needed for a couple of nights, so we would highly recommend it.
