Mainland Resorts & Spa by Kolaahalam

Food was good and the location was great. Room maintenance was lacking; the reason given was that it’s an old property.

Breakfast was good. My family and I have visited many resorts in South India, and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I booked and paid in Mainland Kolahalam, but we didn’t stay inside the resort; the cottage we got was an outhouse outside the resort. It seems they rented this nearby place and used a building for rent. To reach it I had to use the backgate behind the restaurant, and the place was stinking. I had to walk about 400 m. The place was completely outside the main resort and I couldn’t enjoy the view inside the resort. Though I could use the facilities, I had to walk from this compound, cross a gate, and reach the resort. That night, when I went to the restaurant, the room was pitch dark and there were no lights. Four or five dogs were right in front of us; I somehow managed to chase them. I actually wanted to leave the resort at that moment, but since I was with my family (wife, mother, and two daughters) I had to stay. Those who stayed inside the resort might be happy, but I was really disappointed. When I booked, the details were given and I was under the impression that this cottage was inside the resort. The next day I was greeted by monkey and dog poop right in front of the room. It was a really bad experience overall.

“Budget stay.. Not premium as per room tariffs”

The location and ambience were good, and the place was extremely calm and peaceful, but maintenance is a big issue; when you enter the property it doesn’t give a premium or relaxing feel, cleanliness was below par, bed making and room maintenance need improvement, the à la carte menu was good, yet the breakfast menu was very limited.

“Not worth”

I wouldn’t recommend this place; it’s just a very poor current failure and I wouldn’t go back.
