The kids’ facilities and space were plenty. The room had no windows facing outside and the in-room amenities were sparse. Though the room was large, it lacked a table and the layout felt odd.

Staying at Taichung Phoenix Hotel means you can’t miss their famous Phoenix Food Hall, where the brunch is truly worth the trip, running until 1 pm and feeling more like an all‑you‑can‑eat lunch with a wide range of international dishes—from Taiwanese and Japanese specialties to freshly baked pizza, deli items, elegant desserts, plus Vietnamese and Thai flavors, unlimited Starbucks coffee and Häagen‑Dazs ice cream, all so plentiful you couldn’t finish them. The hotel caters mainly to families, offering a kid‑focused Star‑Space playground that requires a ticket, as well as a gym and laundry facilities, so the extra amenities are more than adequate. Its location is fairly convenient, just 2–3 stops from the train station, easy to reach by YOUBIKE, and right next to the Second Market and Zhonghua Road night market, with the Green River promenade nearby for evening runs or walks, and plenty of late‑night snack options. The rooms were clean and tidy but admittedly small—my main focus was the brunch—and the bathroom had a handy bidet, making the overall value acceptable, though the hotel sits right beside a main road and next to Taichung Hospital, so you’ll hear ambulance or police sirens; light‑sleepers might want earplugs.
