“Our most favorite Dominican experience”
You stay here for the experience and the vibe. It feels very authentic, with lush gardens, plenty of local and wild animals. The owner, originally from Belgium, speaks good English and Spanish and is enthusiastic. The property is private with only a few houses in a jungle setting. There’s an outdoor area, a hammock, a pool (we didn’t try), a clothes‑drying spot, a fridge, and an outside kitchen. The room isn’t huge but is adequate, with space for clothes and nightstands. A mosquito net above the bed is essential here. The big plus was a free water barrel. The nearby Delgado beach (700 m away) is wild and great, with plenty of space for walks or runs. Las Galeras itself is best reached by car.
The bathroom was basic, with no door—just a curtain—offering a new level of privacy. Water pressure was low and there was no hot water, but in the hot, humid climate that wasn’t a big deal. The roosters on the adjacent property were very loud, though. Complimentary coffee made up for it.
