The vibe is natural. However, there’s a poop in the swimming‑pool toilet, it’s not clean, and our shower plug wouldn’t drain properly during the night. A centipede crawled into the bed while we were sleeping and bit my leg.

The staff are welcoming and smiling, and they respond quickly to messages. It’s a bit far from the city, but a tuk‑tuk service is available for a fee.

The hotel looks abandoned. The staff don’t speak English and the service is lacking. There are mouse droppings in the room. The hotel is far from the center of Pailin and doesn’t deserve the name “palace.” The towels are dirty. In short, there’s a lot of work to raise the standard.

The hotel sits in a forest on the outskirts of town. The small cottages are nice. The hotel offers a tuk‑tuk transport to the city for 5 dollars per ride. Returning from the city requires arranging a driver or a motorcycle (in town the transport is by motorcyclists). The hotel has bicycles and a pool. I didn’t swim in it, but guests did. I had breakfast at the hotel: two eggs, a small slice of ham, two bread rolls, and coffee. The staff are pleasant.
