The rooms were spotless, modern, and bright, with very comfortable beds and lovely furnishings. The hosts responded quickly, and checking in and out was hassle‑free.
“Extremely frightening and aggressive experience”
I would strongly caution others about staying here based on the behaviour we experienced from the owner on the morning we left. Two of us had legitimately booked and paid for a room for Friday and Saturday night. On the Saturday, a friend came down from Galway to meet us. She had originally intended to drive home, but after having some drinks, we felt it was obviously safer for her not to drive, so she slept on the floor of our room that night. The following morning, the owner approached her and told her she should not have stayed and would need to pay €50. She immediately agreed. She explained that she only had a card, but he insisted that the payment had to be in cash and would not accept card or bank transfer. She told him we would go into Doolin for breakfast, find an ATM and bring the €50 back. There was no argument whatsoever about paying. Before we left, he approached us again about the money and, again, we confirmed that we were going to get cash and would pay him. He then told us he was going to follow us into Doolin. We did not know the area or where the ATM was, so we drove slowly through the village looking for one. When we could not find it, we pulled in, turned around and drove back through the village to continue looking. At this point we saw the owner pulled in a little further back. We drove past him and had absolutely no reason to think there was a problem. We knew he had been following us for the payment and assumed he would simply continue following us while we found an ATM. What happened next was genuinely frightening. The owner followed us in his car and then accelerated up extremely close behind us. He overtook us and suddenly pulled across in front of our car, blocking us. I was driving and had to slam on the brakes because of how abruptly he pulled across our path
“Ottimo!!”
“Lovely stay”
Just a short drive from town, the house offered a spacious room with great views. Martin was on hand at check‑in and answered every question we had, making the whole process smooth.
Facilities were good, but there was no breakfast available.
