You can hardly find a spot closer to the castle; the location is perfect. I spent the night alone, the owner gave me a code and left me free to roam the inn with great kindness. She also recommended the restaurant across the street, which I highly recommend! Even in the rain, I loved this walk to Himeji!

“居心地のいい宿！”

I got tips from the staff about the best restaurants and the illuminated spots around Himeji Castle. The hotel sits right between Himeji Station and the castle, so the location is perfect. You can head out for drinks in front of the station or take a night stroll around the castle. The only downside was the solid soap; I wish they’d offer a body wash.

The hostel was clean. There were only a few bathrooms. There is no proper luggage storage; after check‑out (you must pick up your bags by 14:00), you have to pay an extra 1200 Y for luggage storage if you want to stay longer, which should be factored into the total cost of staying in Himeji!

The place is ideally positioned between the train station and Himeji Castle, on a busy street with restaurants and a convenience store during the day. The neighborhood is quiet, and there’s a microwave available, but no kitchen. The double room was small yet adequate for a single night. My son slept in a capsule dormitory, which felt a bit Spartan and depended on everyone keeping quiet. Unfortunately, on the night we stayed, the rule against using the showers late at night wasn’t followed, and it got noisy.
