I loved this place: the grounds are amazing, the interior is lovely with amazing views, the room was clean and spacious, and the staff member who attended us was first class—she even turned on the fire for us when we arrived. The meal my husband and I had last night was amazing (the best I’ve ever tasted) butter chicken masala, and breakfast was lovely; overall, a really good stay 😀. Nothing major, though the gardens need a bit of TLC, the leather chairs in the dining room are a bit worn, carpets on the stairs need cleaning, and the place is a bit too quiet for us, with only a handful of guests—maybe because it’s a 15‑minute walk to the high street.

The bed was comfy and the view was amazing, but the shower pressure wasn’t great.

The property sits in a good spot, but it needs updating; the bed needed a new mattress and pillows, and the top cover wasn’t clean.

The staff are friendly and try their best, and the capable chef in the kitchen made the food okay. The place just needs some care and attention at least, but a major renovation is required; it could be an impressive country house hotel given the building and lovely grounds.
