Tajimaya Inn, a 110‑year‑old Japanese‑style inn in historic Magome, offers air‑conditioned rooms with flat‑screen TVs, complimentary hot‑water thermos, green tea, toothbrushes, and Yukata robes. Guests enjoy a communal bath, Irori fireplace, and free public Wi‑Fi. Situated on a stone‑paved street, it’s a five‑minute walk from Magome Bus Stop, near the Nakasendo trail, with easy access to Tsumago, Nakatsugawa, and Nagoya stations. Breakfast starts 07:30, dinner 18:00.

The staff were very kind, dinner and breakfast were good, and the location in the middle of Magome juku was lovely. The only downside was the shower schedule, but the private onsen for half an hour was nice. Shower access required a reservation, and the air‑conditioner in our room didn’t work.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tajimaya! The house is gorgeous and the hosts were so nice and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were incredible, and we even got offered a traditional singing and dance class. We highly recommend this place.

It has an exceptional location and excellent facilities. They struggle to accommodate people with health conditions such as fish and shellfish allergies, which is unreasonable given the price and resources. The staff could be friendlier.

The spot sits right in the heart of town and feels like a classic ryokan. The staff were friendly and the dinner and breakfast offered a wide selection of local traditional dishes. The downside was the steep stairs that made carrying suitcases a struggle, and the shared bathroom was on another level, so a steep set of stairs had to be tackled at night. You also have to book your bath in advance; a morning soak would have been nice. For some reason the bus drops you 2 km from Magome with no service into town, and the owner at Tajimaya didn’t mind dragging two suitcases in pouring rain over that distance.
