The pool is a real highlight; after checking beforehand for safety, you can swim freely outside class times without fuss. The front‑desk staff were a bit grumpy, especially at check‑in, and I didn’t feel particularly welcomed. When I asked them to double‑check the room for bedbugs and eliminate them, they didn’t quite get it, so I had to follow up again.

The location is lovely, and the room came with a safe, a mini‑fridge, and an electric kettle – all the essentials. It’s a single room at the back of the building, no balcony, but you could sit on the shared balcony by the TV/reading area. The pool was nicely heated, and both on‑site and adjacent parking were free.

The room stayed cold when the outside temperature dropped below 10 °C and there was no heating.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The floor in the room was laminate. The room was very clean. The hotel is right on the Rursee, and a café, a snack bar, the Ruhrberg shipyard, and the tourist office are all within walking distance.
