“Good location and lovely terrace, but facilities were poor”

The terrace with a view of Istanbul is gorgeous. However, the beds are extremely hard, there’s no sound insulation so I could hear everything on the street and in the corridors, the water pressure vanished whenever someone else showered, and I got burned by boiling water when the cold tap suddenly stopped while I was showering.

The breakfast was good with a beautiful view. The first negative impression was the sharp cigarette smell right after entering. When we arrived, we were told the room we’d been assigned would have to be swapped the next day; if we had any trouble, we were told to handle it through Booking because it was the site’s fault. That was said in a fairly blunt manner after we asked why we had to change rooms to an identical one, and why guests couldn’t be checked into that room. We didn’t want to change rooms since we were only staying three days and had come to the reception for clarification, where we were categorically denied in a rude tone. We also had to book an extra night because we didn’t want to change the location for one night. When we tried to pay online through Booking, the receptionist deceived us by saying online payment could only be done via the Booking site, even though she should have provided a terminal for card payment. We ended up paying cash. The room was very worn, full of scratches and chips, the shower door only opens and closes with effort, and the coffee at breakfast was paid for.

The location is fine. Breakfast is small and the room is tiny.
