“Excellent Location and Staff - but read review!”
The hotel hit most of the marks for me in Alexandria, with friendly staff, a tasty breakfast, a secure parking garage, and a full kitchen in the room. I was only three blocks from a Wegman’s grocery store and the area had a large theater complex and several restaurants. However, this was the second Residence Inn where the mattress felt like a brick; I couldn’t relax at night and ended up in worse shape than when I left the previous hotel chain that had a great bed. Marriott’s quality seems off, especially the pillows and the bottom sheet, which is too small for the mattress and rolls up under you each morning. I also noticed poor air quality in the room, and the washing machines—though convenient—were very low quality. I stay in many hotels a year and use a lot of laundries, so at this price I expect at least a comfortable mattress, a properly fitting sheet, and a washing machine with several options.
