“Beautiful spot on the river, relaxed vibe”
The place had a beautiful central oak tree, a river running through it, and lovely views, plus a homemade sand beach that was perfect for younger kids and a variety of animals, including sweet piglets we were introduced to. The toilets were a bit of a journey in the dark but clean, and there were a few handy kitchen facilities. The lady who owned the place was lovely and had a clear idea of how she wanted the place to work—relaxed and not too many rules—creating a relaxed feel with lots of happy kids and animals running around. However, being among the farm animals wasn’t ideal in practice: the donkeys and horses kept trying to get into the rubbish bags and tents and made a lot of noise at night, and the field had a lot of manure that might put some people off. The yurts we stayed in were adequate; inside was just beds—no solar lights or bedding or anything else. Not a problem, but it seemed quite expensive considering.
