We booked tickets to Mount Tianmen in advance; if you go via the main road it takes 20 minutes to the cable car, but if you go through the courtyards it’s only 10 minutes. Breakfast was two fried eggs, toast, a banana and an apple without a drink, but when you have an early start on the mountain (we were from 8‑9) it’s very convenient and saves time. The room was clean and odorless, the staff were friendly and ready to help. The location was a problem – we couldn’t find it right away, and the taxi only goes to the main road, so we had to search for the hotel with our suitcases.

I was rather pleased with this one. A two‑minute walk to the cable car, staff stored our bags without fuss, and there was a proper kettle in the room. I slept well, so I can’t complain.
