We stayed in the bath house, which was wonderful, and we could see and hear the waterfall from our room. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel entrance is very grand and the food was lovely.

The entrance is beautiful, the beds are comfy, and the nearby beck is lovely; the staff are friendly. The potholes in the road were so bad that I wouldn’t advise taking a low‑profile car down that road.

The hotel sits in a great setting with walks straight from the front door, and there’s plenty of car parking. Our room had an unpleasant strange smell that forced us to keep the windows wide open, which was not ideal on a windy night. The ensuite was very tatty, the windowsill was soaking wet and dirty, and despite reporting this, nothing was done about it. The sealant around the bath was black in places and the seal on the shower screen was coming away.

The place is very nice and friendly, and I’d recommend it. The lift was broken, but the staff carried our bags for us.

The service was excellent - especially from Nevan who went out of his way to help us. The beds were comfortable and the dinner and breakfast were both excellent. I love that the hotel is involved in saving the Red Squirrels
