Cornellskop Country Stay

What a fantastic spot to unwind from city life! The friendly staff answered every question and helped us with the toasters, for which we are again very grateful! We spent two nights there. Every morning and evening we went to greet the meerkats, and nearby our cabin, peacocks strolled by and even a male spread his magnificent tail a couple of times! Of course we visited the animals, and it was here that we tried making our first braai (we had bought steaks on the way to this place at a supermarket, and brought wine from the vineyards). The bed was very comfortable! So we really felt like we were outside the world.

“Can't wait to go back!”

The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, which really enhanced the overall wonderful experience. The cottage we stayed in was a beautiful, rustic and comfortable farm stay – with the added benefit of Mojo the lion overseeing our safety from his platform on the hill. Hearing his roar and chuff from the cottage as the sun set was incredible. If you love animals, Cornellskop is an absolute dream. Our stay here honestly exceeded my expectations – definitely core memory stuff for us.

“Our family had a truly memorable expereince.”

The facility suited us perfectly for a family weekend to celebrate our 50th anniversary together. The grandchildren loved the hot tub and their favorite was the animal encounters. There were a few items requiring maintenance in the house, which is very old but not unexpected and nothing that couldn’t be resolved.

“Ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art auf einer Farm mit sehr netten Menschen und lustigen Tieren”

The people on the farm, especially Riaan, were extremely friendly and helpful. The story of the farm impressed me, even though we originally didn’t come for the animals. Lying in the hot tub at night, watching the starry sky and listening to the lion roar was a very special experience. I have to be honest and say that I cannot justify the price‑for‑value ratio. It is a lot of money for one night (we were there for 2 nights). Even in Germany, where prices are much higher, it felt like luxury for us and we couldn’t really find that here. Sure, luxury shows itself in different ways, sometimes it’s just the view or the location, but in this case we found nothing like that for us, even though the hot tub was obviously a highlight (the wood was included). I’m sorry to write this because everyone was incredibly nice and we generally felt very comfortable. For the price we would not book again. Maybe it’s also because we didn’t really use what the farm offers. For people with children it’s definitely worthwhile. The kids have a lot to experience and discover.
