“well-equipped, but deposit, facility charges, missing towels, lack of sea views were disappointing”
The lodge itself was roomy and well equipped, featuring a lovely living room and bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, and ample space for six people to stay comfortably. However, I usually read the fine print and reviews carefully before traveling more than once a month, yet several aspects of this stay surprised me. I had no prior notice of a £200 deposit that had to be transferred to a private bank account outside the country, which made me uneasy—please be aware of this! Towels were not provided, which was especially inconvenient for a two‑week trip; we had to purchase towels for everyone and then donate them to charity because we couldn’t fit them into our flight luggage. The description gave a different impression of the views and facilities; there was no sea view from the lodge, as it was surrounded by other lodges—I’ve added photos to illustrate this. Access to the swimming pool and sauna required extra payment. The checkout instructions demanded that we empty all bins and the dishwasher, strip the beds, and fold and leave the bedding in the kitchen. I would suggest taking photos upon arrival and departure to document the property’s condition. More transparent, prominent information about the deposit, additional facility charges, lack of towels, and checkout requirements would have helped us prepare and avoid these surprises.
