Everything: John and Mary are wonderful hosts—kind, helpful, and fun. Their guesthouse is beautiful, comfortable, cosy, and spotless, and John’s breakfast is delicious and freshly cooked—definitely 5‑star. If you’re thinking of booking, just do it—you won’t regret it. The 18th‑century Georgian Avonmore House in Youghal is a true gem. Mary and John are incredibly friendly and caring hosts, and the room I stayed in was the most comfortable I’ve ever had. The peace and quiet, recliner armchairs, and pillows were so plush that I could finally sleep despite my insomnia. John’s breakfasts, especially the overnight oats, were delicious, and the hot bath was a perfect way to unwind. The house is within walking distance of the town centre, shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and the best beach in Ireland with its boardwalk. A short drive takes you to Knockadoon, Ardmore and Ballycotton cliffs, Shanagarry, Garyvoe beach, and more. I wish I could have stayed longer to explore everything. I wholeheartedly recommend Avonmore House to anyone visiting Youghal. Thank you, Mary and John!

The building is beautiful and historic, and the rooms have been recently renovated. The hosts are helpful, and although Youghal itself feels a bit dated despite its rich history, Avonmore stands out as one of the best places we stayed.

The place is hospitable, comfortable, and the food was delicious. The beds feel very homely and cozy. The only downside is the stairs, which can be a challenge if you have mobility issues, but everything else was lovely.
