A room above a very pretty art gallery, with paintings by our host who welcomed us very warmly; she even came to pick me up in a tuk‑tuk and helped me arrange my departure the next day. The room was spacious, very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was magnificent.

The location was good and the place was clean, but the staff was completely unhelpful. The kitchen should have charged 4,50 € for use without any prior notice (they only offered a toaster and kettle for breakfast, and I had to wash the dishes myself; no stove or fridge was used). The employee couldn’t even provide a fresh towel the next day during a two‑night stay, insisting towels were only changed every three days… probably a consequence of the room rate. Despite the nice spot and spotless rooms, we won’t return.

The upstairs room was lovely and roomy, with thoughtful touches. The bathroom was modern, the AC and fan worked well, and there were tea facilities, a fridge, and plenty of storage. A private enclosed balcony was also present. The host was absolutely delightful and helpful. A communal kitchen offered a hob, microwave, fridge‑freezer, and utensils. The front terrace was nice. Everything was fine.

The experience exceeded all our expectations! The rooms are large and spacious, the shower water pressure is great, and the family running the place are very nice, always greeting us with a smile. The enclosed balcony with sliding windows is perfect for relaxing after a sunny day, and a nice spot to unwind with a cold beer before heading out to one of the many restaurants nearby. It’s just a few minutes’ walk to the best beach in the area, where we spent most days at a place called Chill Space. This was by far the best place we stayed during our four‑week trip to Sri Lanka, and I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else when returning to Hikkaduwa.
