The breakfast was good and the location works. The bathroom was separate, which matched what I booked, but I’m not sure I’d get the same room again.

The receptionist was very helpful, patient, and informative. The room was below street level, something I didn’t realize when booking; the window was large enough, but street noise would seep in if opened, and it always felt like a basement on lower floors. Still, the room was clean and comfortable.

Maria, the young girl who checked us in, was professional. The young waitress at breakfast was pleasant. The location is good and the hotel is quiet. However, the carpets in the Islay “suite” were dirty and torn, the room was shabby and clearly needed redecorating, the door was ill‑fitting and let light in all night, and the bathroom was practically unusable and tatty. I’ve seen better portaloos. Breakfast was meagre, and items didn’t come out in order—fruit salad after the cooked breakfast. There was a 20‑minute wait for an indifferent croissant. A young male server wore the same scuffy clothes we saw him in while he was cleaning rooms. Generally, a disappointment.

It was a lower level room, therefore the view was restricted. We were happy with the room & the service
