The breakfast was superb! There was something for everyone. The eggs came from our own chickens, and you could taste the difference!

Looking back over ten years of travel, this place tops the list even though I’ve stayed in several four‑star hotels and apartments before. The room was gorgeous, the breakfast tasty and the view simply breathtaking. The hotel occupies a renovated centuries‑old building perched on a mountain summit; at first you see a basilica on the ridge and think you’ll have to visit it, only to discover you actually need to climb a little higher. The setting is extremely quiet with no traffic, and you can enjoy breakfast or evening wine at garden tables that overlook the spectacular scenery. The rooms show the family‑run spirit with a minimalist, clean design that matches the photos, and the shower was massive—big enough for an entire family at once. Breakfast offered fine salami, ham, cheeses, vegetables, kuglóf, breads, coffee, orange juice and apple juice, most of which the owner sourced from his own farm or local producers. There’s no on‑site dinner, but we ordered a pizza for 11 € from the “Pizzeria Weißes Kreuz” just 15 minutes away and it was worth it. Families with kids might also like the “Tierpark Stadt Haag” nearby, a huge animal‑park/playground hybrid that could easily fill a whole day. We’ll definitely book here again on our next visit.
