Maybank Guest House

“Highly recommend”

I was thrilled from the moment I arrived; the room was fantastic and the bed was supremely comfortable, offering more than I expected. The owner greeted me warmly, and the breakfast selection was outstanding. Guests have a private bathroom just down the hall, complete with fluffy bathrobes and towels, and there's a cozy sitting room for everyone to enjoy. Nothing could have been better.

“Good place to start the John Muir Way. Large property with character.”

The host was friendly, but I doubt my Yorkshire accent was clear even though I tried to simplify; breakfast was varied but no menu was provided; the room was roomy, warm, and had plenty of towels; the property sits on a main road yet stays quiet; Helensburgh's shops and amenities are a 10‑15 minute walk away; however, the bathroom, advertised as private, is actually in a public hallway, on the ground floor next to the lounge, requiring passage through the entrance hallway, which was inconvenient at night but not a big deal for me alone, though it could be a concern for families.

I had a great time staying in that charming old house, with a very comfortable room, a lovely breakfast in the cozy, fireplace‑heated lounge, and the town and riverbank just a walk away, all thanks to the wonderful hostess.

The breakfast was fantastic and very generous, and the staff were wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The decor is also unique and adds a special touch to the place.

“Breakfast was really very good. Host could not have been more attentive”

The house was very comfortable and the host was lovely and kind. The location was on a busy road, but that was fine.
