The old house had great character and lovely orchard gardens; we enjoyed a wonderful stay and had dinner each night with Andy’s offerings, and the towels for daily use were appreciated.

The coffee could be better, but as an Italian in N.Z. I’m used to that; the coffee itself was the main issue.

Andy welcomed us warmly, cooked a fantastic dinner even with our last‑minute booking, and served a great breakfast; the rooms were spacious and the cat was very friendly.

The small accommodation sits right in the countryside, even though the main road runs right next to it; our room was very roomy and located on the top floor with windows that let us see countless stars from the bed (there are blackout curtains if you prefer). Andy, the owner, also offers dinner on request. We dined there and I must say we didn’t regret it: Andy is an excellent cook and we had a superb meal at a very good price. Breakfast consists of a small buffet and a hot dish with eggs that can be freshly prepared on request.
