Brian is a friendly host who speaks fluent English. From the room and the adjacent terrace you get nice views of the bay and the Rio‑Niterói bridge. A shared kitchen is available with basic equipment (fridge, microwave, gas stove, dishes). The small fridge is also in the apartment. Walking to Gloria and Flamengo beaches (10 min), to metro stations Gloria and Catete, and to the historic center is possible on foot. The shower has weak water pressure. There is no air conditioning; only a ceiling fan, which is so noisy that you can’t sleep. Mosquitoes and biting flies are a big problem. Even though I had a plug‑in repellent and a body spray, I was bitten every night and the sleep was worthless. It’s strange that this problem didn’t occur in the other two accommodations in Brazil. The worst part is that the accommodation is high on a hill and there are no shops, restaurants, or anything nearby, so you have to go down to the city for everything and then climb back up the steep hill, carrying your purchases… and when you’re already up, there are still 70 stairs leading inside the house to the apartment. The price was low, but for the reasons mentioned I would choose something closer to the beaches next time (not on a hill). Sorry, Brian.
