The Bulls Head - Clipston

The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar was nice, yet the bathroom was dirty, lacked a shower head holder, and the heating was set to max like a sauna; the room was freezing at night with a paper‑thin duvet, and the carpet was also dirty.

The staff were very friendly and the bar was lovely, but the bathroom was dirty and there was no shower head holder, making showering hard; plus there was no Wi‑Fi or phone signal.

“Camping indoors. Bare minimum.”

The restaurant staff were lovely, but supplies were extremely limited: soap didn’t suds, red shampoo didn’t suds, no top sheet on the bed, spiders in the bathroom, thick dust on the walls, springs felt through the mattress, the shower was tiny with no rug to dry on, the bedding was mismatched and flat, and air‑freshener cans sprayed on floors, walls, and beds gave a horrible smell.

“Sunday lunch 😀”

Sunday lunch was excellent, the toiletries were nice, the bed was comfy, and the location was good, but the shower lacked power.

Clipston is a beautiful historic village just on the edge of the Naseby battle site; on a solo cycling trip the pub gave me exactly what I needed—a comfortable bed, a good evening meal, and a friendly welcome. The rooms are above the bar area, a skittles game was in progress, but everything was quiet at a decent hour. For walkers and cyclists, Clipston is very near the Brampton Valley Way (with its spooky Kelmarsh tunnel!), Naseby battlefield and other delights. I couldn’t get my TV to work, but I was too tired to ask and didn’t miss it much anyway.
