The meals were good, and being tucked away in nature with a stunning view was a treat. The welcome was warm, and there’s a grocery right next door. The hike starts right from the hotel, and you can meet Gilda and her grogues, ponches, and confitures that are sold all over Cape Verde. The only downside is it’s a bit far from Ribeira Grande and Ponta do Sol, though you can get there by rental.

The vibe and food feel like a family gathering, and the hosts are devoted and very helpful. The village is authentic and close to a marked trail. We recommend this simple spot that leaves a great impression.

Gilda’s friendliness and the tasty dishes made from her garden produce, plus the incredible mountain view, made the stay unforgettable. There’s nothing to add – it was the best lodging of our San Antão trip and unbeatable value.
