Upper Room Hotel Kurfürstendamm

“A practical and convenient place to stay close to Berlin Zoo Train Station, at good value for money”

The room was practical and comfortable, with a good bed and a nice bathroom next to it. The staff were kind and helpful, and Wi‑Fi was good. The location was convenient, close to Berlin Zoo train station and many buses, metro, all within easy walking distance. Restaurants, cafés, etc., were nearby. The room was on a different floor from the reception, but that was manageable. The elevator was small but functional. It offered good value for money. A few minor repairs were needed, but overall the room was good.

“Value for money as you pay”

The location was good. The hotel entrance was not up to standard, and it was hard to carry suitcases up the steep stairs.

The price was too high and the experience was disappointing. The room was tiny, run‑down, and definitely not worth the cost. On top of that, there was a constant food smell in the room.

“Man fühlt sich sehr gut aufgehoben.”

Consistent reception, which I love! The room was very warm, and the blinds were hard to operate.

Last night was a real letdown. The room was not clean at all—used plastic cups were lying under the bed, something my seven‑year‑old son pointed out. The Wi‑Fi was terrible, so I couldn’t get any work done. The worst part was the night with my kids; they kept getting bitten in bed and had to scratch a lot because of intense itching. The next morning I found many red spots on their skin that still itch today; I have photos to prove it. When I raised the issue at checkout, the staff member was baffled. Even after showing him the photos, he dismissed the complaint, saying the skin reactions were just due to the weather. That response felt cold and inappropriate. For €171 for one night I expected far better hygiene and a respectful response. I’m very disappointed and have already reached out.
