GRAND AĞA HOTEL

I am extremely disappointed with the travel company. The hotel was advertised with misleading descriptions and attractive photos, but the reality was completely different. The room was filthy and in poor condition, and I left the hotel after just four hours. I expect a full refund as soon as possible. I am extremely disappointed with the travel company. “Lindo hotel, bem localizado, porém necessita de reformas nos apartamentos e sistema de refrigeração.”

The reception staff provided excellent service and were very helpful. The hotel’s location is good—about a 25‑minute walk to the city center, but there are mini‑buses that stop in front of the hotel, making it easy to get to the center and back with a cheap fare. The apartment, bed and bathroom were comfortable, but the first apartment we stayed in was missing one side of the shower box, and the air conditioner didn’t work properly. They moved us to another apartment immediately, but that one also had an air conditioner that didn’t cool, maybe blowing dusty street air (we kept coughing when we entered the apartment), and water leaked through the base of the shower box. Despite these problems we didn’t ask for a third apartment, so we stayed ten days uncomfortable. We kept accepting the situation because we were already settled in the second apartment and had tours booked. There were also constant power outages in the building (almost every ten to twenty minutes), and water supply interruptions, so I had to go to the reception to report the lack of water and ask for a solution. They resolved it, and there was no more water interruption after about seven days of us staying at the hotel.

The hotel was only for one night. There is parking at the hotel. The staff were friendly; at check‑in they offered a cup of coffee from the road, which was nice. Breakfast was easier than in other Turkish hotels, but it was fine. From our room there was a view of Ararat. The rooms were a bit worn; if there’s no handle on the bathroom cabinet, you can probably attach one; the lamps have loose diffusers that can be fixed. There are many such little things.

Walking distance to the station, the room has a view of the snow mountain.

I loved the spot—great location, the rooftop breakfast was fabulous, and the view was beautiful.
