“Mixed feelings, but glad we went there”
Despite being hardly accessible, the place is just fantastic. I really liked the morning trek and went on my own on a nearby 7km trek. We enjoyed the place and the garden maintained there makes it even more beautiful. Surrounded by wildlife on all sides, I really enjoyed that you could find yourself in three different zones packed in a small area: the rainforest, the grassy meadows and rippled tea hedges. I really liked the level of comfort provided in such an isolated area. Hot shower, electricity, kettle and a large and comfortable bed. Despite the challenges of high humidity the room felt clean and we didn’t have problems with insects or vermin. To be fair I did make a rushed reservation, but when booking I was not aware that you have to get to the place by 6:00PM. I had to skip one day because I couldn’t make it there on time and I was concerned about our safety. Driving to Munnar is generally long if you’re coming from a beach town in Kerala. Getting on top feels very extreme and I wouldn’t recommend it for families with kids. Beware of leeches and ticks! Also sometimes the staff would misunderstand me and I did feel a bit of a language barrier. The food in the area is I guess as good as it gets for such a remote area, we didn’t enjoy it much
