Despite the rain and strong waves, it was good to have pools. The staff, especially the manager, was very engaging when we spoke to her; she made us feel welcome and even recommended the soon‑to‑open Hudor Resort in San Juan, La Unión. There’s a certain smell in the room that can’t be masked, and the toilet flushing was problematic.

The room smells like watermold, and it wasn’t ready when we arrived, so the room smelled like watermold.

The location was close to the main road, making it easy to find, but the AC leaked and the bathroom cleanliness could use more work.

The resort looked lovely, especially the saltwater infinity pool right by the beach, and the villas were well-equipped with spacious, very clean bathrooms; the lobby and breakfast were decent, though the breakfast could offer more variety. The karaoke room’s sound system was impressive, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, but we were charged for a towel that got dirty during our stay—something usually included in the room rate at comparable beach resorts—which made checking out unpleasant.

The infinity pool was great, yet the breakfast buffet offered very few options—only bread and omelets, no pancakes, and the main courses were limited to adobo for meat, daing, plain rice, broccoli with macaroni, and spam, with no dessert section. Ants on our headboard forced us to pull the bed away from the frame.
