We stayed one night in this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable to stay in, and having a refrigerator was very convenient. The city centre is not far.

The staff were exceptional, and the hostel manager had a great growth mindset for a new project, so many of the negatives could change. He even gave us a free ride to Celje Castle when one of us was a bit ill. The rooms were simple but fine, each with its own fridge and a set of cutlery and plates, which we found useful. The common kitchen was also good, and the long‑term guests cooked tasty food that inspired us to try making our own meals. There’s also an excellent, affordable climbing centre in the same building if that interests you. The main downside was that about 80 % of the guests were long‑term male workers from nearby companies, and the staff team is very small and not always present, which can make the atmosphere feel unsafe, especially for a young woman who might need to walk to a bathroom at night with no night staff around. Other drawbacks included a pervasive, sometimes strong smell—like cigarette smoke—present almost everywhere in the building and no soap in the bathrooms.

There’s a large parking lot, a great base for walks, and a friendly owner. The cleanliness, especially in the shared kitchen, was lacking, but otherwise it was fine.

The rooms were clean, pleasant, and had air conditioning. The location under the local castle was good, though we didn’t have time to explore it further. The receptionist was helpful, even though we arrived quite late. The cleanliness of the common areas and social facilities could be improved.

“Sehr gutes Hostel mit super Ausstattung”

The hostel’s facilities were great. Everyone received a cooking kit for the kitchen and other items. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, we could smell the smokers’ smoke in the hallway, so a better seal on the balcony door would help. With the window open, we could hear cars outside on our side, but there was also an air conditioner.
