“Mauvaise expérience”
Clean and well‑located, but I won’t come back and I’d advise others to avoid it.

Spotless and in a good spot, yet the arrogance of Madame Mounira was off‑limits; I wanted to change my cramped room for an extra fee and she snapped back, “why do you want to dance in it?” and added “you choose the cheap prices.” I’ve never felt humiliated in a hotel like that.

The location was fine. I must express my deep dissatisfaction with my stay at Hotel Akkuş: the room and service were far below what was advertised and what any hotel should provide. Housekeeping came only once in five days, leaving dirty towels on the floor untouched, and we couldn’t even take a shower; the sheets were never changed. Trash bins overflowed and weren’t emptied, the room was dirty and poorly maintained, and the bathroom was filthy with degraded fittings and a constant, strong sewer smell that made it unbearable, especially with two young children. The overall condition of the room didn’t match the photos at booking. The TV was useless—tiny (about 40 cm wide) and wouldn’t turn on. I also paid extra for breakfast, but it was a disaster: the hotel didn’t serve it, forcing us to go to a nearby hotel; on the first morning we left the dining room almost empty. There was no decent coffee, no milk for the kids, only pieces of baguette, hot water with powdered milk that my children couldn’t swallow, instant coffee that tasted awful, some tomato and a few slices of ham that we didn’t even touch.

The hotel sits in a charming neighborhood full of small clothing shops, just a stone’s throw from the metro and tram stops, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very small and clearly in need of a serious renovation; there was only one power outlet by the bed, so to charge a second phone we had to unplug the TV. The furniture looked antique, probably salvaged from elsewhere, and the mattress was older than my grandmother’s. The bathroom was also tiny and uncomfortable, with no surface to set belongings on and no towel rack at all. The shower curtain was short and tight, not reaching the floor or covering the entire shower area, making it hard to avoid flooding the bathroom. Breakfast was quite meager: the bread was always fresh and soft, but beyond that we’d have liked more options than just a single portion of salad, eggs and jam.
