“Passable, good value — and we'd return”
We paid about £70 per night for three people over the August Bank Holiday, and we thought it was good value for a very central Blackpool location. The beds were clean and comfortable and the shower was genuinely excellent. The TV worked well and having Netflix available was a nice bonus. There was also an extraordinary number of plug sockets in Room 4 — we counted sixteen! The location worked brilliantly for us. We were within easy reach of the seafront, attractions, shops and places to eat, so it made a very convenient base for our weekend. Despite the problems mentioned below, we weren’t disappointed with what we got for the price. We wanted somewhere affordable, central and comfortable enough to sleep after busy days in Blackpool, and it did that. Knowing what to expect, we would actually stay again. Cleanliness and maintenance could definitely be improved. All three cups in our room had residue on them and the kettle filter was very dirty, so we cleaned everything ourselves and eventually bought our own cups. There was also visible mould in the small en‑suite bathroom and no extractor fan. The room became extremely warm and the window only opened a small amount, so ventilation was poor. Communication was also limited. The room code we were initially given didn’t work and, although this was eventually resolved, we found it difficult to get responses. We only saw cleaners when we arrived and didn’t encounter any other obvious staff during our three‑night stay. There was a regular strong smell of cannabis throughout the building. Noise may also be worth considering for families. Our room backed onto a backstreet/alley surrounded by other accommodation and sound travelled extremely clearly between the buildings. Late at night and into the early hours we could clearly hear people having sex in neighbouring properties. We were travelling with our 13‑year‑old daughter, which made the first night particularly awkward! Obviously the hotel cannot control what people in neighbouring properties do, but families may appreciate knowing how clearly the sound carries into the room.
