“See you next year!!”
I loved how the building’s history was highlighted, letting you picture firemen and trucks while dining in the cavernous (yet not noisy) Apparatus Room restaurant/bar. Little touches like a small hinged window in the hallway and a painting of a firefighter with hoses on the 3rd floor added character. Our Foundation King room was airy with tall windows, superb bedding, and the movable couch and bench gave great seating flexibility. Interesting lighting fixtures and a mini fridge stocked with various beverages— we moved them to our own fridge. The large walk‑in shower had a non‑slip tiled floor and a glorious rain head. Being close to Hart Plaza was great for Jazz Fest, and the Guardian building is a must-see for architecture lovers. The Q‑line on Woodward made it quick to reach the DIA, library, and symphony hall. On the downside, more storage would help: night tables with drawers or shelves, a desk with a drawer, a storage shelf in the bath, and at least one grab bar in the shower. There was no coffee maker in the room, though the free lobby coffee was delicious until 11 am. No ice machines was a minor inconvenience. My biggest issue was the lack of security in the elevators— anyone could walk in and go upstairs unimpeded. Key‑card readers should be installed for guest protection.
