“Great!”

Wind Blend Kite Resort is a hidden gem in Kappalady. Like most places in Sri Lanka, the staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. What truly sets this resort apart is its relaxed vibe; it isn’t a polished luxury spot, and that’s exactly what makes it charming. The wooden cabins sit among palm trees, with lovely outdoor showers that immerse you in nature. The layout feels like a laid‑back jungle backpacker spot, yet it offers enough comfort to feel like a boutique retreat. The cozy wooden restaurant is the heart of the place, complete with board games, a pool table, and a fridge where you can grab your own drink and note it down. One of the highlights is the BBQ evening, where all guests gather for a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. If you want a late‑night swim, they’ll gladly open the pool for you. If you’re after a place with character, great people, and a relaxed tropical atmosphere rather than polished luxury, Wind Blend is perfect. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily return. The only thing that could be improved is that the resort isn’t directly on the beach; it’s just a short walk away, so you don’t get the classic kite‑surfing beach‑club feel of landing your kite and grabbing a drink with your feet in the sand. That said, the relaxed jungle vibe more than makes up for it.

“À part du kit il n’y a rien à faire et rien à voir !!”

The room was spacious, with a nice effort in decoration, greenery, a welcome juice, and a kind server. The constant noise was a problem—especially the mosque’s loud calls at night and the leaking water reservoir next to the room that dripped all over the building. The lack of maintenance was obvious; the outdoor bathroom was muddy with dirt and dead leaves, and the neighbors kept making fires, leaving the bathroom cluttered. Electrical wires protruded from the wall. Breakfast was bland, repetitive, and often came with dirty plates from the previous day.

“Ronduit fantastisch”

The stay was fantastic, especially with host Ravi Silva—he was super friendly, handled everything for you, and even played games with you. We had great days.

The spot for kite is right in front of the hotel and you can walk there in 5 minutes. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, and the breakfast was plentiful. However, our room was a bit back from the park, so we didn’t get a sea view and the family living just across the street kept us up every morning with their noise.

“Lovely stay under the palmtrees next to a great kite lagoon🌴🌊❤️”

I loved staying at Wind Blend! Everyone was super kind and helpful, and the food was great—especially the kottu for us. The resort sits in the village, just a short walk from the kite lagoon. We launched our kite and hung out at the surf shack of Wind Tribe, which we really enjoyed. I’d definitely recommend staying here and hope to return someday.
