We had a great stay, the breakfast was very good, the kids’ zone was perfect, and the pools and saunas were nice. The two‑level room was huge and spacious. The restaurant was too pricey. Some furnishings and facilities were showing their age and weren’t working properly; for instance, we couldn’t lock the bathroom door because the lock was broken. These issues didn’t majorly affect our stay, as the hotel’s positives outweighed them, but a more demanding guest might file a complaint.

“Surprize de tot felul”

The staff were very attentive to guests’ needs and requests, and the reception team deserved a high rating for their dedication and respect for style and courtesy. The spa staff and cleaning also earned top marks. However, the apartment we stayed in wasn’t cleaned properly for a hotel of this class; there were dust bunnies and a glass of juice under the bed and sofa, and the balcony had leftover packaging and cigarette butts from previous guests. On Sunday morning, I woke to bags of trash and discarded bags scattered in front of the apartment door, while the neighboring unit was being cleaned for the next occupants.

We never stayed in the listed room; instead we were handed the Deluxe Suite with Sauna and Balcony. The suite was roomy and cozy, and the extra beds for the kids turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was great and diverse, and the kids loved the indoor play area and the pool. The annoyance came from how the room change was first described. The hotel called the Deluxe Suite an upgrade, but when I booked I recall the option to book that exact suite for about 30 % less than what I paid for Vila Miorița. I chose the pricier option because I feared the extra beds wouldn’t be comfy. In hindsight that worry was unfounded, so I was understandably upset about paying so much more for the room we finally got. The hotel eventually refunded the difference—and a bit more—so the issue was settled fairly. Despite the odd situation, we had a wonderful stay and will probably come back, maybe in winter.
